Lansing — The Michigan Supreme Court has ordered a lower court to reconsider a plea from Marshall area residents aiming to stop Ford Motor Co.’s electric vehicle battery plant in south-central Michigan.
In a brief order Friday, the Michigan Supreme Court vacated the Michigan Court of Appeals’ June dismissal of the case — which centers on the rezoning of transferred land — and ordered the appellate three-judge panel to reconsider it in light of a similar challenge decided in 2017 in Wexford County.
The Wexford decision clarifies what rights the parties and intervening parties have over land transfer agreements made under Public Act 425 of 1984 , a law governing the transfer of land for economic development purposes.
