“It’s unbelievable,” said Suzie Lenfant, who identified that nurse as her first cousin, Belinda Skelly.
Lenfant says Skelly has been a nurse for a long time.
“She worked long shifts, 12-hour shifts,” said Lenfant. “She loves her job. This is not going to be easy.”
The hit-and-run happened late Sunday night. Police say the driver of the SUV, Lillian Sellers, 67, had just clocked in to work and rushed back outside to park. While police call her reversing “reckless,” they don’t believe she intended to hit Skelly. What happened next, though, left family members in disbelief.
“You really see how horrific it is when the driver comes by just to pick up pieces and to not offer aid,” said Lenfant.
