WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A vigil was held in Westfield to honor political activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot and killed at a Turning Point USA event in Utah.
The community gathered at Park Square to express their views on freedom of speech, an issue Kirk was passionate about.
The vigil was organized by a local college student who was a longtime follower of Kirk. Attendees held signs advocating for freedom of speech, reflecting Kirk's advocacy.
Authorities have identified 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Utah as the suspect in the shooting. Kirk was killed while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.
A representative from Turning Point USA, who attended the vigil, described Kirk as humble and committed to civil conversations.
