Bourbon & Beyond is expected to draw more than 200,000 people to the Highland Festival Grounds at the Kentucky Exposition Center over four days of music, food, and bourbon. The projected economic impact: roughly $24.3 million.

“Everybody is out and about early. The streets are full. It’s great to see so many people downtown,” said Jason Smith, Against the Grain director of operations.

Businesses like Against the Grain on East Main Street say they’re ready to welcome festivalgoers.

“It’s like Derby for us. It’s one of those weekends that are on the books. We’re anticipating the crowds. We’re ready for them,” Smith said.

The setup is much different this year than last year and twice as big. Those changes have led to some concerns for neighbors.
