The determined crowd gathered Friday night at Unity Park, calling for unity and remembering the life of Kirk.

"Charlie just had a way with the young people. He drew them in by the thousands in crowds. His last moments were doing what he loved with the college kids. He was so open to everyone. He never turned away a conversation," Kerrigin said.
