BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Birmingham Police Department says a growing network of security cameras is helping officers solve crimes faster and improve neighborhood safety across the city.
The Connect Birmingham program allows residents and business owners to register their private security cameras with the department. When a crime happens nearby, officers can reach out to request access to footage through the Real Time Crime Center.
Signing up for the program takes less than 90 seconds, and although it comes with a small annual fee, police say it offers valuable peace of mind. Chief Michael Pickett encourages more residents and business owners to get involved and help strengthen security in their communities.
