Inventronics marked a milestone on Friday as staff gathered to celebrate product designer Jack Stewart’s 50 years with the Brandon-based manufacturer.

Stewart joined the company — which makes metal enclosure products used in communications, electronics and other industries — on Sept. 12, 1975 when operations were confined to a single building.

He started in the steel department, running brakes and punch presses, before steadily working up to the role of a product designer, Stewart told the Sun on Friday.

“I was just looking for a job back then,” Stewart said. “Over the years, I’ve worked my way through different departments, learned on the floor, taught myself design and eventually moved into engineering.

“It’s been a long road, but also a short one when I look back.”
