BOISE, Idaho — The Boise School District Board of Trustees just approved a roughly $30 million property tax increase.
District spokesperson Dan Hollar said the decision was not made lightly, telling KTVB the money will help the district maintain essential programs.
"The first and foremost consideration was understanding that the environment in which we operate is seeing increases," he said, "and making sure that we're able to continue to operate and provide the support and the programs for the students who are in our care right now."
He said the hike will help fund several key educational programs, including all-day kindergarten programs, free breakfast programs for students and expanded career-technical education opportunities.
The money will also go toward supporting social workers,
