Half Moon Bar Lodge , an iconic place to stay for rafters and anglers in southwest Oregon's Rogue River Canyon, has survived a spate of wildfires that ignited after a thunderstorm on Sept. 3.
The Moon Complex grew out of the small fires that were ignited by lightning and burned around both Half Moon Bar Lodge and Paradise Lodge on the Rogue River .
Fire crews accessed the area by jetboat and helicopter and helped save the two lodges.
The lodges are located on the 34-mile wilderness stretch of the Rogue River west of Grants Pass and east of Gold Beach.
