On Aug. 13, Buffalo Township supervisors conditionally approved two proposals for solar “farms” by two 4-1 votes.

Only Michael J. Oehling Jr. had the courage to oppose them. Supervisor Ron Zampogna III lamented that he had to support the proposal because he said he would have been a dictator if he said, “No you can't do it” to the landowners.

What Supervisor Zampogna didn’t seem to realize is he acted exactly like a dictator by approving something that benefits no one in Buffalo Township but the landowners, and is overwhelmingly opposed by township residents.

As William Pitts wrote of the meeting in his Aug. 14 article in the Butler Eagle, the proposals were met with “near-unanimous disapproval” by the residents in attendance because of concerns about safety and property value decline.
