LOGAN – The semi-official opening of the 2025-26 season of the Theatre Arts Department at Utah State University drew a standing room only crowd to a play reading of Poor Clare, directed by USU assistant professor Amanda Dawson.

Not that it took a large audience to fill the Black Box Theatre in the Chase Fine Arts Center to capacity, but that opening night turn-out was still surprisingly good.

These bare-bones play readings have always been an opportunity to scout up-and-coming stage talent at USU. Despite the sterile setting in which it was performed – and it doesn’t get much more sterile than the stark stage area of the Black Box – the 2022 comedy/drama by Chiara Atik proved to be thought-provoking and enjoyable.
