Windsor is getting ready for US President Donald Trump’s state visit on Friday with police conducting searches and the US flags decorated throughout the main street.
Trump will make an unprecedented second state visit to the UK between Sept. 17 and 19 when he will be hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle, to the west of the capital.
Trump, who is a big supporter of the royal family, particularly of the monarch, will be accompanied by his wife, Melania Trump, during the three-day visit.
Visitors in Windsor showed a mixed feeling about the state visit.
"I think it's good. The closer the relations are and stay, all to the good of Great Britain and the world," said Kathy Tibbey, 78-year-old British visitor.
Saffron Abeyratne said it would be a 50/50 split in welcoming Trump.
"A lot of my friends I don't think are gonna be very happy. We talked about it a lot yesterday, just yeah, not loving it," said the 19-year-old local.
At one of the souvenir shops near Windsor Castle, a mock commemorative plate with a photo of Trump and Jeffrey Epstein was seen on Friday, displayed by a protester.
A mass protest is expected in London on the first day of Trump's state visit.
No US president has been invited for a second state visit.
Trump previously enjoyed the pomp and pageantry of the state visit in 2019 during his first term when he was hosted by Charles’ late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
The invitation for the second state visit from the king was hand-delivered by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in February during a meeting at the White House.
