CORFU — One minute, Edward Mileham Jr. was at Sport of Kings in Batavia for lunch. Soon after, he was on his way to the scene of a multiple-fatal bus accident on the Thruway near the Pembroke exit.

Mileham is assistant chief at the Pembroke Fire Department. On Thursday, after being among those honored for their response to the Aug. 22 crash, he recounted the experience to gathered media.
