Horse and greyhound racing officials tasked with oversight placed hundreds of bets on races over a two-and-a-half-year period, an investigation has found.

Tasmania's Racing Integrity Commissioner has ruled five stewards breached their code of conduct but there was no evidence of criminality, collusion, race fixing or money laundering.

The stewards, one of them full-time and four casual employees, placed wagers from January 2023 to June 2025.

One steward placed 49 bets on harness and thoroughbred racing, totalling $1410 with a net profit of $103.10, with 24 of the bets coinciding with races they were officiating.

Another steward placed 162 bets totalling $273.28 for a $244.08 loss, including 25 at four greyhound meetings where they were officiating.
