PERRY TWP. – Stark Parks has completed rebuilding a Sippo Lake Trail bridge that was destroyed in March by arson.
Angela Palomba, community engagement manager for the park district , said Sept. 11 the bridge replacement effort has concluded after a three-week effort at Sippo Lake Park.
The price tag for the new bridge was about $54,500. Red Sun Construction of Wadsworth was the contractor for the project.
The fire broke out the morning of March 25 along the one-mile bridge between Exploration Gateway , 5712 12th St. NW, and the Sippo marina. The walking portion and railing were destroyed.
A 40-year-old Canton man was charged with igniting the fire. Nearly 150 feet of the wood-composite bridge, which is about eight-feet wide, was destroyed.
