WESTFIELD - With the city only 10 months from beginning the building of its new $45 million police station, Mayor Michael McCabe is looking for two residents to sit on a committee that will oversee the project.

“Policing is an important component of every community, so I’m looking to see if I could find two community members who were outside of policing to get a different viewpoint than what you might have if you were part of the police subculture,” McCabe said about his vision for the committee.

“What I am looking to do is pull the stakeholders into a group, much like [the building committee] for the Westfield River Elementary School, where about 15 or 20 people that got together for monthly meetings,” McCabe said.
