SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Sarasota Police Department shared some reminders on driving safely in rainy weather after a teen lost control of their vehicle on a wet street.

The 17-year-old was leaving Sarasota High School, police said, when they took a left turn too fast and fishtailed before crashing into waiting traffic.

Video released by the department shows the black sedan turn into the center lane, rapidly accelerate, and swerve into the left lane before making a sharp turn into the line of cars waiting at a traffic light.

The crash happened on September 8 at the intersection of US-41 and Bahia Vista Street and held up traffic in both directions for a few hours as crews worked to clear the roadway.
