Pittsburgh police say a man was shot during an attempted robbery inside an East Allegheny apartment overnight.

It happened just before 12:30 a.m. Saturday at a home on Pressley Street. Police say they were initially dispatched for a report of a robbery and aggravated assault. Advertisement

Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest inside a fourth-floor apartment.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, the victim told police that two men dressed in all black knocked on his door and demanded the contents of his backpack and cash from his wife after he returned home from the store. One of the suspects then fired his weapon.

The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition. His name has not been released.
