A Washington Township, Northampton County, resident was paid $37,500 to settle his excessive force claim against the Washington Township Police Department.

Robin Bet says former officer Daniel Dieter “body slammed” him while he was trying to get information about downed wires at his property.

Lehighvalleylive.com obtained the settlement Thursday by filing a Right-To-Know Law request with Washington Township . Under the settlement, the township does not admit wrongdoing, and Bet, 68, agrees to drop the case. Township attorney David MacMain declined to comment on the settlement.

The lawsuit filed in 2023 in federal court says Bet was slammed down and lost consciousness during the incident July 18, 2021, at his home in the 2300 block of Ackermanville Road.
