Gear up, it's showtime.
The 77th annual Emmy Awards organized by the Television Academy are taking place this weekend with some of year's top-rated shows including "Severance," "The White Lotus," and "The Penguin" in the running.
Nominations for this year's awards were announced July 14 during a live ceremony hosted by Harvey Guillén, Brenda Song and Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego.
"Severance," Apple TV+'s workplace drama, topped the nominations list with the most mentions, garnering 27 nods, followed by HBO Max's "The Penguin," with 24. HBO's "The White Lotus" tied for third place with Apple TV+'s "The Studio" with 23 honors, while "The Last of Us" earned 16 nominations. "The Studio" also tied the record set in 2024 by "The Bear" for most nominations for a comedy series.
The eligibility dates for the 2024 Emmy Awards apply to shows that aired between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025. Only shows that aired in those 12 months were nominated.

When are the 2025 Emmy Awards?
The 77th Emmy Awards are scheduled to take place on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025 from 8-11 p.m. ET / 5-8 p.m. PT.
Where are the Emmy Awards held?
The Emmy Awards ceremony will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The Peacock Theater, with a seating capacity of 7,100, is located within L.A. Live, a 4 million-square foot downtown Los Angeles sports and entertainment district adjacent to Crypto.com Arena and the Los Angeles Convention Center. The theater, which opened in October 2007, offers 12,000 square feet of VIP and hospitality areas and 10 dressing rooms, according to the venue's website.
Emmy Awards have been held at the venue since 2008, formerly known as Microsoft Theater and Nokia Theatre. The theatre was named Peacock Theater in June 2023 as part of a multi-year naming rights agreement between AEG, a sports and live entertainment company that developed L.A. Live and NBC Universal’s streaming service, according to a press release.
Who's hosting the 2025 Emmy Awards?
Comedian Nate Bargatze has been tapped to make his Emmy-hosting debut, the Television Academy announced April 16.
"It’s a huge honor to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world," Bargatze said in a statement.

How to watch the 2025 Emmy Awards
The Emmy Awards ceremony will air on CBS at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT and will be livestreamed for Paramount+ Premium subscribers. Other Paramount+ subscribers in the U.S. will have access to the ceremony the following day.
The official Emmy Awards pre-show, "ET: Live on the Emmys Red Carpet," hosted by Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner, will air from 7-8 p.m. ET / 4-5 p.m. PT on the CBS Television Network.
An edited version of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremonies, meanwhile, will air earlier on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 11 p.m. ET on FXX with streaming on Hulu.
