(WFSB) - Some big honors for a former UConn basketball star. Paige Bueckers was honored on Friday as the AP’s WNBA Rookie of the Year.

The Dallas Wings’ number 1 pick averaged a little more than 19 points and five assists per game.

She finished with the third most points ever by a rookie, and second most assists.

But the Wings did finish tied for the worst record in the league this season.

Bueckers was also named to the AP all-WNBA second team.
