In late August I was on vacation and not keeping up with the news. So I was caught off guard when the first text messages came in from a parent asking if their child would be able to receive a COVID shot this fall. A quick Google search revealed the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had not approved the COVID vaccine for healthy children and adults under 65.

The change was unexpected. While most other nations have restricted its use for adults over a certain age, the United States has always looked at the COVID vaccine differently.
