West Midlands Police arrested more than 1,000 suspects in the last week alone - but the force says 'total crime' is down.

That included 200 on suspicion of assault, 300 for domestic abuse and scores of arrests for a wide range of other suspected offences such as robbery, burglary and vehicle crime.
