One Rio Grande Valley neighborhood is setting an example for community pride. They received the McAllen Shines first-ever championship winner award.

For those who live in the Windfern neighborhood, keeping things clean isn't a chore, it's a shared commitment.

"You know, we do try to get as much as involved we can, you know, in keeping our neighborhood clean. Nothing in the property, you know their cars, the trash, everything," resident Yolanda Molina said.

Molina has lived in the Windfern neighborhood near Colonel Rowe Boulevard and Fern Street for seven years. The Homeowner Association was honored by McAllen Shines for their dedication to keeping the community clean.

"They manicured the entrance, they redid the entrance with more greenery, and they did a fantastic job," McAllen Mayor
