Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy won't be a part of the team's revenge game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2.
The Chiefs officially ruled Worthy out for their Week 2 matchup as he continues to rehab from a shoulder injury. Worthy was seen on the practice field in the days leading up to the matchup, but he's not up in a place to play this weekend.
The second-year wideout was hit by teammate Travis Kelce on a crossing route just plays into the Chiefs' Week 1 matchup vs. the Los Angeles Chargers. He was ruled out with a shoulder injury soon after, but his status for Week 2 was murky until Saturday.
Here's what to know about Worthy's availability for Week 2 and beyond:
Is Xavier Worthy playing vs. the Eagles?
The Chiefs have officially ruled Worthy out for their Week 2 matchup vs. Philadelphia.
Worthy suffered a dislocated shoulder vs. the Chargers in Week 1 after being hit by tight end Travis Kelce on a crossing route.
This week, Andy Reid told reporters that they were taking Worthy's injury "day-by-day," so there was a chance that Worthy took the field on Sunday. That isn't the case now.
How long is Xavier Worthy out?
The wideout has not been placed on Injured Reserve (IR), so there is a chance he plays in Week 3 vs. the New York Giants.
If Worthy is placed on IR, he will be forced to miss a minimum of four games.
At minimum, he will miss the Week 2 matchup vs. the Eagles.
Chiefs WR depth chart
The Chiefs are hurting at wide receiver, and had been even before Worthy was ruled out on Saturday. They are also without rookie wideout Jalen Royals, who is nursing a knee injury.
Without Worthy, Royals and Rashee Rice (who is currently serving a suspension), here's how the Chiefs' WR room lines up:
- Hollywood Brown
- JuJu Smith-Schuster
- Jason Brownlee
- Tyquan Thornton
- Nikko Remigio
