PATERSON, N.J. (PIX11) -- Residents in Paterson, New Jersey, were warned to shelter in place and close their windows and doors on Saturday due to a fire that may involve hazardous substances, according to a notice posted on social media by city officials.
Anyone within a 1-mile radius of 198 Putnam Street in Paterson was put under the shelter-in-place order while the city's fire department responded to the situation.
Residents were also advised to turn off any heating and air conditioning if possible.
