Syracuse, N.Y. ― The Syracuse men’s basketball team was scheduled to play St. Joseph’s in Las Vegas on Saturday, Nov. 22, but now that game is in limbo after the Hawks were removed from the Players Era Showcase.
Syracuse is playing three games in Las Vegas as part of the Players Era Festival. St. Joe’s was originally in the event’s field of teams, but the school voluntarily bowed out when Players Era officials wanted to add another team.
In lieu of being in the Players Era Festival, event organizers arranged games for St. Joseph’s against Syracuse and UNLV in Las Vegas. The Hawks’ games in Vegas were dubbed the Players Era Showcase.
On Saturday, however, St. Joseph’s officials released a short statement announcing that the Players Era Showcase had “withdrawn’' St. Joe’s from the games.
