'Demand is up immensely year-over-year and we're doing everything we can to keep up'

A Calgary women’s charity says it’s facing the prospect of having fewer trucks on the road to deliver donations for an increasing number of people who need them.

That’s led the Women in Need Society to put out the call for one or two donated five-tonne trucks, or the money to purchase them.

“We currently have four trucks and they’ve just been aging … it seems like one of the trucks is always in the shop,” said society spokeswoman Leah Stewart.

“There’s only so much we can do without a full working fleet … we’re looking for one truck but two trucks would be great so we can cycle out the older models.”
