UPDATE: A few parents have growing concerns for their children after a student threatened over text to bring a gun to Loftis Middle School this week.

The school system, alongside the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, told Local 3 earlier that the threats were unfounded.

Yet, the scare is still leaving some families on edge after recent school shootings across the nation.

Emily Saul, a Loftis parent, tells us her stepdaughter experienced so much stress and anxiety over the "severe" threat that they kept her home from school Monday.

"Wednesday I then reached out to the school via telephone as a concerned stepmother trying my best to reassure my child," Saul stated to Local 3. "I was told initially by the office assistant they really had no idea what was going on and could not give me a
