UNION CITY, Ga. — A family is calling for the suspension or firing of some Union City Police officers after what they consider a mishandled response to their 911 call reporting the death of their elderly family member.
The department states their officers followed standard protocol on Sept. 10 when responding to the call, thoroughly investigating any death that might require a medical examiner's review.
"Ma'am, can you step back for me?" you hear a Union City Police detective ask on body camera video to Nikita Sweeney.
Sweeney was attempting to touch her grandmother, Joyce Davis, who passed away this week at 80-years-old. Sweeney is visibly upset on the body camera video, heard cursing at the responding officers, which 11Alive had to edit out before the story went to air.
