On Saturday, the Chicago Bears signed kicker Jake Moody to the practice squad, while placing rookie undrafted free agent Xavier Carlton on the practice squad/injured reserve list.
Moody was cut by the San Francisco 49ers a few days ago after missing two of his three field goal attempts in the 49ers’ season opener. The 25-year-old Moody, a third-round draft pick in 2023, has made 74.2% of his field goal tries in his career, including a six-for-twelve mark from 50 yards plus, with a career long of 57.
He may have a bigger leg than the current Chicago kicker, Cairo Santos, but he’s been much worse in his young career.
Santos, who turns 34 in November, is signed through 2027, with $3.1 million already guaranteed this season, but they could save about $3.2 million if he’s a post-June 6 cut n
