Blanding, Utah • The National Weather Service in Grand Junction, Colorado, issued a Tornado warning for San Juan County Saturday afternoon, after a tornado was spotted near Blanding.
The tornado was spotted around 1:12 p.m. approximately 22 miles southeast of Blanding and is reportedly moving northeast at 10 miles per hour. The warning is in effect for East central San Juan County and Western Montezuma County in Colorado.
NWS warns flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter, with damage expected for mobile homes, roofs, windows, vehicles, and trees.
The tornado is expected to remain over rural areas, including the Hovenweep National Monument. All residents are advised to immediately seek shelter.
