BELMONT — It was prep school football with a professional twist.
Belmont Hill head football coach Anthony Fucillo and Middlesex School head coach Scott Woodward are very familiar with each other. The friendship dates back to their high school days when they were star quarterbacks at Winthrop and Mahar Regional High School, respectively. Fucillo would go on to play at Colgate, while Woodward would suit up for UMass before both embarked on collegiate football coaching careers.
This led them to their respective destinations, strong prep school programs that are a short drive away. When looking at their familiarity with each other and the fact that the two programs don’t face off during the regular season, the idea to hold NFL-style joint practices came to mind.
