COLUMBUS, Ohio — Firefighters are battling a fire in Lancaster on Saturday that left residents injured.

According to a Facebook post from the Lancaster Police Department, officers received a 911 call around 2:50 p.m. about a residential fire in the 700 block of Washington Avenue . The Lancaster Fire Department also arrived at the scene.

The scene remains active, police said. It is unclear how many people were injured.

The Lancaster Police Department Detective Bureau and the Lancaster Fire Department Investigator Unit are investigating the cause of the fire.

Police are asking the public to avoid the area while emergency crews remain on scene.
