ARNOLD — Ava Oberle and her Festus High softball teammates didn't mind taking a few lumps.
In fact, the Tigers might have needed a dose of reality.
Festus lost four of five games in the Summit Tournament on September 5-6 against some of the top teams in the area.
"We saw some good St. Louis pitching," said Oberle, a junior pitcher and slugger. "It helped us prepare. And it helped us come back strong."
The Tigers bounced back from that rugged weekend to blitz the field in the Jerry Joyce Tournament, hosted by Seckman High.
Festus knocked off Washington 4-2 in the championship game under the blazing sun Saturday afternoon at the Arnold Sports Complex.
The Tigers (13-4) won all four games in the two-day affair including one-run wins over Francis Howell North and Union on Friday.
