Auburn football improved to 3-0 on the season after defeating South Alabama 31-15 Saturday afternoon, but the Tigers defense still remains a concern entering conference play.
Auburn gave up 310 total yards against South Alabama, and the Jaguars passed for 170 yards. That was 28 more yards than the Tigers’ offense gained (142).
“Defensively, we’ve got a lot to work on from this game. I do think South Alabama presents a challenge offensively, with all the 12 personnel, movements and pictures,” Auburn coach Hugh Freeze said postgame. “They’ve got a really good running back, too. I thought they played extremely hard. We’ve got to get off the field more on third-and-long.”
On the ground, South Alabama had four rushers total for 140 yards on the ground. The Jaguars finished 7-for-16 on third
