The fifth annual Septemberfest hit the streets this weekend, bringing some four-wheeled fun, a celebration of family and community and colorful balloons to downtown Helena.

The free family event, which runs Friday through Sunday, combines the Gills Point S Soapbox Derby, Sauter Balloon Sculpture Festival and the United Way Family Funfest.

Organizers boast “there is something for everybody.”

Septemberfest officially kicked off Friday with a soap box derby car show along the Walking Mall just outside Ten Mile Creek Brewery.

New this year was the addition of the first-ever “Derby Car Calcutta,” where attendees bid on their favorite derby car to help raise money.

Saturday began with the 1K for United Way Fun Run.
