STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — More than 100 people gathered in Von Briesen Park to show their support for Borough President Vito Fossella as he officially launched his campaign for re-election on Saturday.

Billionaire businessman John Catsimatidis, the radio talk-show host and owner of WABC, kicked off Fossella’s reelection campaign in Fort Wadsworth by announcing his endorsement.

Framed by the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge towering in the background, Catsimatidis, a longtime friend of the Fossella family, said, “Staten Island has always been my home away from home, and I love the people of Staten Island because they have common sense. We need common sense, and we need to bring everybody in America back together again.”
