Chicago police are conducting a death investigation after an infant girl was pulled from the water near a South Side beach Saturday morning.

Police said the baby, who has yet to be identified, was recovered from Lake Michigan in the 5700 block of South DuSable Lake Shore Drive just before 11:30 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A 31-year-old woman also was pronounced dead after being pulled from the water near 63rd Street around 2:30 p.m.

Detectives are conducting a death investigation in both cases, pending autopsies, police said.
