CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Board Member Melissa Easley is facing criticism on social media after posting about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk , prompting police to issue a standing order for safety checks at her residence.

Easley's initial Facebook post about Kirk's death on her personal page drew hundreds of critical comments from users who accused her of inappropriate remarks about the killing.
