An Evergreen Park man has been charged with robbery after allegedly stealing a bag of money from a Brinks armored guard, prompting the guard to shoot the man Wednesday morning in the Loop .

The guard had picked up a bag of cash from a store in the first block of South State Street and left about 11:15 a.m., according to a criminal complaint filed Friday in federal court.

Dajon Harris, 23, followed the guard into the store, waited near the entrance, then followed the guard as he left the store, the complaint said.

Harris then grabbed the bag with both hands, leading to a struggle between the two on the sidewalk. In the struggle, Harris allegedly punched the guard and stole the bag containing about $6,500, federal prosecutors said.
