CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - The West Texas A&M Lady Buffs soccer team secured their first shutout victory of the year after scoring five goals against the Wayland Baptist Flying Queens.

Baylor transfer Jade Martinez scored the first two goals early. Avery Putnam scored the next two goals in a five-minute span. The final goal of the game came within five minutes of the game ending, scored by Aaliyah Peak and assisted by Malone.

The Lady Buffs had 16 shots on goal and the Flying Queens had none.

WT moves to 3-0-1 on the year and will be back on the road Wednesday to start Lone Star Conference play, facing Texas Woman’s in Denton. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CST.
