A multi-story affordable housing complex in the heart of Santa Maria's downtown will be up for council review and public discussion at Tuesday's City Council meeting.
During a public hearing, council will consider the construction permit for the Perlman Apartments planned for 100 North Broadway. The proposed six-story building, consisting of five stories of 150 affordable apartments on a 1.12-acre site, is part of a transformative multi-lot development project in Santa Maria's downtown being developed by the Vernon Group.
Council approved the sale of city property near the corner of Main Street and Broadway in September 2024, with the development of the individual properties occuring in phases through 2031.
