CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga hosted the 11th annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, and 3.43 Mile Walk this morning at AT&T Field, located at 201 Power Alley.

The event is part of a series of memorial climbs organized across the United States to recognize the firefighters and first responders who died during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Participants in the stair climb completed 110 flights of stairs inside the stadium, symbolizing the 110 stories of the World Trade Center towers.

Each participant carried a photo of a fallen firefighter, turning the climb into a personal tribute as well as a shared act of remembrance.

For those who did not take part in the stair climb, an alternative option was available in the form of a 3.43 mile walk around the infield.
