MANCHESTER, Conn. (WFSB) - “House of Heroes” helped to change the life of yet another local veteran on Saturday morning.

The non-profit organization aims to honor veterans and first responders, making free repairs at their house.

A group of volunteers, many of them veterans themselves, show up and get to business.

He joined the military after graduating high school, his grandfather serving as his biggest inspiration.

“My grandfather was a World War II vet,” noted Corporal Dion. “He was a purple heart recipient. He stormed Normandy.”
