LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. ( WAFF ) - An Athens man was killed in a car wreck on Saturday, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Authorities said a single-vehicle crash occurred at approximately 2:26 a.m. Saturday, claiming the life of 48-year-old Jeremy P. Patrick.

ALEA said Patrick was fatally injured when the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu he was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch, and then an embankment.

Patrick was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on U.S. 72, near Shaw Road, approximately 11 miles north of Athens, in Limestone County.

Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate this accident.
