Project Self-Sufficiency is launching a 16-week job training initiative designed to prepare women for entry-level office administrative positions.
The Higher Opportunities for Women (HOW) program, which has helped more than 1,000 women gain marketable skills since its inception, will begin Sept. 23 at the organization’s Newton campus.
Participants will receive 80 hours of computer training, including Microsoft Word and Excel instruction, along with 40 hours of classroom education and a 120-hour unpaid externship at a community workplace.
“The job market is constantly evolving, and the Higher Opportunities for Women program gives participants the skills and confidence they need for success,” Deborah Berry-Toon, executive director of Project Self-Sufficiency said in a written statement.
