Authorities are actively searching for a suspect believed to be armed in Glenview, near Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast. The situation prompted police to lock down several streets in the area. An emergency declaration was issued under the Public Safety Preservation Act at 12:55 p.m. on Sunday after emergency services responded to a report on Old Caloundra Road.

According to officials, the incident began when a stolen vehicle crashed outside a property. The occupants of the vehicle, one of whom is reportedly armed, fled the scene on foot and began hiding in the vicinity.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and no shots have been fired during the incident. However, police are advising residents to steer clear of the area, which includes the Bruce Highway interchange with Caloundra Road East and Racecourse Road South, extending to the intersection with Fred Chaplain Circuit.

Specialist police units are currently involved in the ongoing search for the suspect. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they work to resolve the situation safely.
