The top-ranked SEC teams once again faced major tests during Week 3 of the 2025 college football season.

The biggest game of the week pitted No. 15 Tennessee at home against No. 3 Georgia, with the Vols looking for their first win in the rivalry since 2016. It seemed as though Josh Heupel would finally lift Tennessee over the Bulldogs, at one point enjoying a 21-7 first-quarter lead. Even after the Bulldogs clawed their way back, all that stood in the way of a Vols win was a 38-yard field goal as time expired — a sequence of events that somehow turned into a disastrous 44-41 overtime loss for the Vols.
