TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Floridians have racked up some serious credit card debt so far this year, a study from WalletHub revealed.

The analysis measured the increase in credit card debt in each state from the first quarter to the second quarter of 2025, then ranked the states based on the largest increases. WalletHub used data from TransUnion and the Federal Reserve for the study and adjusted the numbers for inflation.

Florida ranked third, following only California and Texas, with a staggering $2 billion increase in the second quarter. California, the state with the largest increase, saw a $3.5 billion jump, while Wyoming, the state with the smallest increase, saw a fraction of that at $46.4 million.
